[update] Yay! ZERO Unemployment in Canterbury

was understaffed, and desperately needed night-shift cleaners and factory process workers

a lot of them are now choosing which job they would rather do

Canterbury big businesses report there are no New Zealanders willing to do the hard yards on menial jobs and are wanting some unskilled imports to manage traffic.  Apparently there are only picky Aotearoans available.  Another unintended but direct consequence of forcing a minimum wage into the free market.

Yet, no doubt oodles of local unemployed continue to uplift 'income' from my taxpayers wallet.  Why are these bludgers not given the stark choice 'take the menial job on the overpriced miniumum wage' or 'no benefit'?

Zero unemployment in the region.  Yay!  If not, why not?

[update]
Many Right thinking blogs take up the same line as my post.  A day later mind you.
